[pwnage 2.0.2] iphone stuck on DFU and Itunes couldn't restore custom firmware!
Hi guys,
My iphone was succefully pwned on 1.1.4 and yesterday I prepared my custom firmware with a friend of mine's mac.
I put my iphone in DFU and tried to restore to my pwned 2.0.1 (i'm doing this in my laptop on windows running itunes 7.7.1) but it says ERROR 1601.
I've tried to restore to my pwned 1.1.4 and I have the same error, and the worst thing is that my iphone is stuck with a black screen but when I connect it to my computer itunes detects it as an iphone in DFU mode.
There's no way to restart the phone or reinstall the firmware again and I don't know what to do.
Any idea??
I've even tried iBrickr but it doesn't detect the phone to kick it from DFU.
Now itunes says that an iphone is detected but it can't be identified properly. I'm thinking of downgrading to itunes 5 and try to restore to my pwned 1.1.4, does any of you have an idea about what would be the best?

Once it is pwnaged the iphone does not have to be in DFU mode.
Here is what you do: Disconnect Mac and iPhone, while iTunes running. Just hold start-button until the iPhone shuts down. Hold Home button and keep holding it while you re-connect the iPhone to the Mac - keep holding the button until iTunes detects an iPhone in recovery/restore mode. It's simple restore mode then and not DFU.
ctrl-click "Restore" in iTunes then and restore to your custom 2.0.1 firmware file.
DFU mode often leads to 1601 when in DFU mode and already pwnaged before.

One more: If you are stuck in DFU mode (screen black), just hold start and home button for a while (like 30-60 seconds). The iPhone will boot then. Provede as decscribed above then.

yes man, you were right. I hold power and home for 40 secs and finally it restarted with my 1.1.4 i had before.
I'll try to restore to 2.0.1 without DFU mode. Another thing that was strange is that the iphone didn't show the DFU image when it put it in that mode, since the beggining it showed a black screen but iTunes recognized the iphone in DFU. :S

black screen = DFU mode
USB cable & iTunes logo OR Steve = restore/recovery mode

That does not work, the baseband can't be downgraded. You are stuck until a solution for the 2.2.1 baseband is available.
The only safe way would have been to go from 2.2 with a custom firmware made with PwnageTool 2.2.5, cause in this case the baseband does not get changed.
Sorry, but no unlock for your iPhone 3G
