    Default [pwnage 2.0.2][fw 2.0.1] Upgrade from 2.0 to 2.0.1: Error 1600 How-To Solve

    Hi All!

I would like to share my experience with the upgrade my 2G iphone from FW 2.0 to 2.0.1 with pawnagetool 2.0.2.
    My steps:
    1. used pwnagetool 2.0.2 for customize FW 2.0.1 and get pwned .ipsw
    2. put iphone in DFU mode
    3. iTunes recognized iphone in recovery state and asked to restore
    4. ALT-Restore and selected custom fw 2.0.1

    AAARGGHHH....
    Got 1600 Error from iTunes
    and iTunes cannot restore FW

    iphone still in DFU mode

    5. pressed home and power buttons together for 10 sec to exit from DFU mode
    6. put iphone in restore mode (turn phone off with red switch and hold home button in as you plug the phone into the USB port, it will turn on, keep holding)
    7. iTunes recognized iphone in recovery state and asked to restore
    8. ALT-Restore and selected custom fw 2.0.1

    RESTORE PROCESS WORKS FINE

Hope this can help anyone who is in trouble with error 1600

    Bye!

You know you just need to update directly in iTunes to 2.0.1 if your phone was pwned before with firmware 2.0.0. No restores, no customising firmwares, no nothing. just a simple update with the original firmware and you're set. The unlock will still work.

THIS ONLY WORKS WITH iPHONE first gen.

Only with a stock Apple firmware, if you do it with a Custom 2.0.1 ipsw there's no telling what will happen.

    From the Dev team's blog
"NOTE: THE UPDATE OPTION FOR CUSTOM RAMDISKS IS NOT YET SUPPORTED FOR USE WITH ITUNES, SO FOR THIS RELEASE OF PWNAGETOOL USE THE RESTORE OPTION."

What data are you talking about?

    - phone numbers & name: this can be saved easily to a mail program. This has been discussed many times already
    - pictures: this can be saved easily as well
    - music: this is already in the itunes library
    - apps: all 2.0 apps are in itunes app library.
    - sms messages: this one I don't know ....

personally, I don't see any problem with data you have on the phone because they can be put back easily.

True, it is just time consuming to have to reload the phone. And right now, I'm away from home and thus my itunes library which is on a network share. So, I cannot reload the phone if I were to do a restore. Oh well, guess I'll just have to wait.
