    Default pwnage 1.1 - install BSD/SSH in app or via installer?

    I'm expecting my new 16GB iPhone very shortly; I want to use pwnage however I've been reading about this potential issue re: BSD subsystem.

    Some people have had issues using pwnage 1.1 if they don't check BSD subsystem on the custom packages tab.

    Even if you install it here, installer doesn't recognize it, so you need a workaround.

    Since I'm a bit of a noob, I wanted to keep things simple and just install BSD from the installer after using pwnage...however I wanted to confirm whether this whole "install BSD as part of pwnage" was actually a bug or just an assumption made based upon a few failed unlock attempts...

    Can anyone out there confirm the following:
    -unlock, jailbreak and activate an OOB 1.1.4 (16 GB preferably) using pwnage 1.1
    -only checked "installer" on the "custom packages" tab

    Thanks!

    We can only go on what others have had happen to them unless the DevTeam want to elaborate.

    You can actually make installer "see" BSD subsystem by installing Fake BSD which is basically just a file is added to installer so it knows BSD is there already.

    Of course there is another option - download the original pwnagetool.app from thepiratebay (and don't update it obviously). That way you can download BSD using installer and be sure it will work without any issues.

    You of course would lose the custom boot images but if you just want your phone unlocked and working initially that may be the best option!

    Just search for "pwnagetool.app" on TPB - it includes the bootloaders and was added on 04.03 - I used that version on two 16GB iPhones without any problems!
    iPhone US 8GB
    FW 1.0.2--> iUnlock--> iPhoneSIMfree--> 1.1.1 --> 1.1.2--> Soft upgrade 1.1.3 --> 1.1.4 using signal.app
    iPhone UK 16GB
    FW 1.1.3 OOB --> 1.1.4 --> iPlus 1.2 unlocked!

    <----If I helped you out, rep points are always nice (thanks for that idea!)

    Thanks. But I am really looking forward to see a better solution. Since iPhone Pwnage Tool works so well, but I am still not using it because of the BSD subsystem. I love to see Installer can detect BSD system correctly, so that I can really save my time with Pwn.

    I am not saying iPhone Pwnage Tool is not good, but this problem really annoys me and makes me not to use this great tool

    Great, thanks for the update! I'll give it a try, or alternatively I'll use 1.1 and perform the fix you mentioned.

    By the way, when I read the dev team's update on 1.1, it says that in this new version they fixed the wifi issue in 1.1.4....what exactly is that?
