I have a pwanged 1gen iphone with 3.1.3, which doesn't seems to identify any wifi network.

What should I do to fix it? I have another 1gen iPhone with the same model number, which has 3.1.3 and its wifi works flawlessly.

I tried restoring to 3.1.2, but that didn't worked with the wifi issue.

to be more precise, I am able to hit the wifi icon, but no networks are shown. It seems to be in a loop without identifying any existing nearby wifi networks.

will it work if I restore the iPhone to apple's initial state? can that be done, without causing any issues?

Have you tried the wifi fix from the devteam? It requires you downgrading to 1.1.4 and a fakeblanked baseband bootloader. If you search you will find existing threads related to this.

Best way to run this is with iLiberty plus.

Other reasons could be the use of ziphone to jailbreak/unlock previously. Could also be a hardware problem. A syslog of a restart and also of a scan for wifi networks might help identify the problem.
