updating iphone 3G
Guys, hi, I owe an ulocked iphone 3g with iOS 2.2 :S I wanted to upgrade to a 3.X version (wich one would you recommend?) but ive never done so..If i let iTunes do it, will I loose the "unlock"? does iTunes let me choose the iOS version that I want or automatically updates to iOS4?
Im from Argentina, I use "Claro" as my line provider (in case theres some1 from Argentina too)
The other thing is, I dont know how to provide extra info like baseband number or bootload, if you guys could tell me please, Ill be grateful.
Of course, this is the first time im attempting to update my iPhone, i bought it already unlocked, so excuse me in advance for any stupid questions I could make.
Thank you guys so much. Regards.
* restore 3.0 (updates based from 2.28.00 to 04.26.08)\
* use redsn0w 0.7 from activating/jailbreaking
* create custom 3.1.2 and restore (this will preserve your baseband 04.26.08)
* use latest ultrasn0w 0.93 for unlocking.
Great, thanks! Any special recommendations I should take into account before any step? Is this stupid-proof? jaja
Same case here.

This procedure will still work and is designed to be very safe. The only update is that you can use redsn0w 0.9.2 to jailbreak 3.0 if you have trouble tracking down the older version of redsn0w.

There are other solutions now (restore directly to 3.1.3 and jailbreak with redsn0w then unlock with latest ultrasn0w). However I would still recommend going to 3.0 and then using pwnagetool.
