Hey,
I have an unlocked 2G with 2.1 firmware and 04.05.04 baseband. I was wanting to upgrade to 3.x (on a mac) and wondering if this tutorial is what I am looking for?

Yes but you don't need the bootneuter section. You can safely turn that off, will make jailbreak faster and safer to have it off.Quote:

Set the iPhone up as new, do not restore from the iTunes backup!
Fix the half enabled push notifications by installing a free app that supports push, running the app, accepting push notifications then going into settings and turning push notifications off.
The push notifications and restore from backup are the two biggest reasons for poor battery life.
