[Solved][Pwnagetool2.1][iPhone 2G][1.1.1 to 2.1][Problem: No signal]

I had a fully working 1.1.1 iPhone 2G. today, I decided to upgrade to 2.1, so I did with a custom firmware using Pwnage 2.1.

Problem is.. I have "No Service" now.. and everytime I connect the device, iTunes says "iTunes was unable to load dataclass information from Sync Services. Reconnect or try later" and then the iPhone appears in the left iTunes menu, like if everything's just fine. I can sync music to it, but for some reason, can't sync my Address Book.

Did I miss something? Can I just go back to 1.1.1? I just need to have signal as soon as possible.. cause I am like.. depending on the phone at the moment!

Any help will be greatly appreciated.. Thanks in advance.

The iPhone is not unlocked I guess. Did you create the custom firmware?

If i were you I would DFU restore to Apple firmware 2.1 in iTunes 8 first. Then use a new made custom firmware (PwnageTool) or go for Quickpwn.

yes. My iPhone was on 1.1.1, I downloaded PwnageTool2.1, downloaded the 2.1 firmware, put the iPhone in DFU, and restored using the new custom firmware.. Now I have no signal.. and the problems stated above.

Any thoughts?

When creating the custom firmware did you use expert mode? If so, check iClarrified here

Did you set Bootneuter according to the tutorial (pic #11)?

Anyway, I would DFU restore first to Apple firmware 2.1 in iTunes 8, this should work. (check on how-to DFU restore here)

Then, if Pwnagetools is not working for you, get Quickpwn 1.1 for Mac and use it to jailbreak and activate the iPhone. It will not be unlocked then.

Check here on how to unlock the iPhone then. I have done it this way manymany times, it always worked for me.
One hint: In step five make sure your Bootloader is set to 3.9, thats the one your iPhone came with.

One last hint: Once done, connect the iPhone to your Mac and run iTunes. itunes will offer to "recover data from a backup". DONT choose this option, choose "setup as a new iPhone instead". Recover would bring very old preferences to your iPhone that probably interfere with the new firmware.
After that sync the iPhone.

when the iPhone is DFU Mode and i open iTunes, iTunes immediately says Error 2001 and doesnt let me restore the phone. it doesnt show up on iTunes after the error. what can I do now?

I can normally-restore to Original 2.1 FW through iTunes if the phone is not on DFU.. should I do that and then try QuickPwn?

Update: I restored the phone normally with iTunes to Original 2.1, downloaded QuickPwn1.1 and run it.. problem is that QuickPwn hangs in there after I put the phone in DFU..

all it says is "QuickPwn is about to run in you iPhone.." and the spinning wheel keeps spinning forever. (QuickPwn spinning wheel, not iPhone's.. iPhone's currently in DFU [Blank screen]).. I left it there for about 25minutes and nothing.

Yes.. I have a PC that I can use.. (Windows XP Professional SP2) with iTunes 8.0.1
