Restore Error 1611
Hi, Please help me....
I was using v 1.1.1 then update to 1.2.0 by accident. I restored to 1.1.4 then use Pwnage tool to create a custom retore. When I use itunes to restore using the new file I created, I got an error 1611. Since then, I couldn't do anything. I cannot get anything to work. Please help me to either go forward to complete or virginize everything so that I can ask for Apple support to help. Thanks.
First you have to have 1.1.4 for pwnage to work and also you are going to get
an error because you have the baseband from 1.2.0 now and so iTunes will always error the restore at the end.
Restore to 1.1.4. When you get the error open up iLiberty and click the "jump out of recovery mode" and the iPhone will start.
Then select the "ipwner" button and pwn your phone. Then restore using the custom firmware.
It will get the error again most likely so boot it using iLiberty. BootNeuter will run but give you an error 5 message.
This is because you have the baseband from 2.0. You have to add iclarified to installer sources and delete the 1.2 baseband.
Then restore again to 1.1.4 custom and unlocked and everything will work.

Thanks for your info. It was very helpful. I was stuck on the iLiberty part. Oh, I realized one thing: When restoring with the custom restore file, it seems that the Mac still gives the error but on the Windows platform, the restore works for me. Is this something strange?
The error messages that itunes gives sometimes go away and sometimes don't!
They can be a bit random... As long as your phone is now working and you can restore on at least one computer I would not worry!
