[Pwnage2.0.1][Bricked][Not Recognized] Kindly help me unbrick my iPhone
Here is how I got it bricked. Currently its stuck in recovery mode (S.Job Photo on screen) and NOT recognized in itunes as well.
1- I had 1.1.4 unlocked and fully working (using Pwnage in past)
2- I updated it to FW 2.0 using Pwnage 2.0.1 - SUCCESSFULL- Fully working.
3- I initiated the process to restore 1.1.4 backup using iTunes (was that a mistake?)
4- During backup restore process, it started copying songs to iPhone. After 116 songs (total 726), itunes shows error message. I checked and found that itunes is not connected to iphone even though USB cable was still attached and nobody touched it.
5- iPhone was still working at this moment but not recognized in iTunes (mac + PC) whatever I do.
6- I used "Reset All Settings and Contents " from settings.
7- It took about hr and so but when it came back it was stuck on pineapple logo.
8- I tried many time to hard reset but no success. I put it in recover mode and try to connect to itunes. It worked! Tried to restore my custom 2.0 firmware. It gave error 2001, on second try error 9 and on third try error 6.
NOW, its stuck in recovery mode. When I try to hard reset or turn on/off, pineapple logo shows for a moment then again recovery mode. WORST is that it is no longer recognized in itunes or otherwise in both MAC & PC.
Can anybody help me out to fix it. Is there any tip/tricks (I tried to re-install itunes no still not recognized) to get it recognized in itunes as a first step?
Any help will really be appreciated. THANKS in advance.
"The iPhone "xyz" could not be restored."
Similar issue. Simple cause. Simple message -- see Title above.
Internet time puts us in the 2.x IPSW age, so let's not go back to 1.0.2 and the dinosaurs before July 11, unless a sure fix.
I have an original iPhone, upgraded to 2.0.1 IPSW, then unlocked with Pwnage 2.0.2, which worked well enough.
Then I restored to Apple's 2.0.1. The Apple logo appears, then the recovery mode screen. iTunes sees an iPhone in recovery mode, and when I select either the Pwned or Apple's IPSW the message is:
"The iPhone "xyz" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (6). OK"
We could stop here if someone had a solution, but ....
I did this because I couldn't find the answer to a simple question. Can you unlock and then relock an iPhone? Or the question can unlocked firmware survive an Apple update. Most folks say it would then need to be Pwned again. Another simple question is does Apple software checksum the firmware and if it is not theirs, delete the IMEI and brick their own phones? Or why hasn't anyone brought a class action lawsuit against Apple for violating the Magnusson Copyright Act which says owners can do whatever to property they have purchased, and that manufacturers cannot willfully destroy their products (to punish customers), let alone not fix them for a fee, or not cover them under a warranty.
With any other computer /device, you can flash the firmware then reload a working copy, then reload the OS and software. Of course you need a way to boot the device. In this case a RAM disk is used. Or you could do the flash and restore from another device like a computer connected via USB (with iTunes). This requires only minimal hardware functionality in the iPhone.
Now I am looking for the answer to a simple question. How to unbrick an iPhone, which was caused by one simple action?
I am writing this here because I can't get to the iphone dev team through irc.osx86.hu. I can't get to the hackint0sh Website moderators. And the hackint0sh forums won't let me start a thread until I do some posts in other treads. And there is a limited search engine here. And there is not a basic thread on the simple topic of unbricking.
Sorry to take up so much space. The problem is simple. The solution may not be. But first the problem is to find someone who has worked with unbricking (since IPSW 2.x). And I haven't found anyone yet, but would think of the 28 people listed in the iphone dev team, they might be able to help. It's just that the security is too tight to be able to contact them.
Where's the spell checker in the message screen? Just a suggestion.
