ok guys i have an iphone 3gs old bootrom on 4.0 never jailbreaked this one before and i followed an iclarified guide on the pwnagetool app and i tried to restore with the custom firmware but it got stuck on preparing iphone for restore.. i have done this too many times and i am starting to get impatient. please help me!
You can't jailbreak any 3gs with either bootrom unless already jailbroken at 3.1.2 f/w with old iboot.
Or you have your shss backed for 3.1.2, then you can downgrade and upgrade with j/breaked f/w.
At the moment you can't jb 3gs with old or new boot on ios4.0. Only upgrade with custom jb'd f/w to 4.0 from 3.x fw.
New Snowbreeze is due to be released soon, maybe this will bring some support for 3gs's
Redmond pie or xsellize has some good guides with common q&a's too rather than iclarified.
