I'm finding firmware version 2.0 to be much less stable than 1.1.4. But I'm experiencing a reset/kernel panic a day, for example while I was running the Bloomberg app today. I never experienced resets under 1.1.4!
Are others seeing this much instability? Is this a result of the kernel patching by PwnageTool, or is it just a buggy OS?
Neither. Uninstall Cydia and your phone will be stable and fast. Trust me on this, I did it myself and the difference has to be seen to be believed. I wish Pwnage had an option like iliberty did to not install it or at least fully remove it after it does it's thing.
I had come to the same conclusion as you about Cydia (who really needs it now?), and last night I rebuilt the firmware package without Cydia (Pwnage does offer this feature if you choose "expert mode") and then restored it. Nevertheless, I had the kernel panic today while running Bloomberg. I'm not experiencing performance issues, but rather stability issues.Quote:

If you noticed this, it was most probably the placebo effect. One of my phones is perfectly legitimate (no pwnage or anything, only app store apps) and I get all the same kernel panicks, random application crashes, and chunky movement. It's a known issue about the released 2.0 firmware, and there have been many complaints by other legitimate customers.

Are either or both of these filesystems compressed and/or encrypted (and therefore possibly slower than the other)? Maybe the apps being pulled from a slower partition is the cause?

Also Cydia has it's own equivalent of "BSD Subsystem" which installs along with Cydia. These utilities might be causing some of the issues.
