what firmware did you use?

did u make a custom ipsw with pwnagetool? If you did, make another one but do not select anything in the .ipsw builder. That means that it will only jailbreak, nothing else. If you are on AT&T, you dont wanna select activate in pwnage. thats because att activation is special, its specific to the phone in the way it includes you phone number etc which is why your geting no signal

one of our reader on iPhoneBuzz experienced the same proble -- what he did first was hacked the iphone with ziphone...then go through the normal process of pwning. Hope that helps.

My "legit" AT&T iPhone was 1.1.2 OTB, updated to 1.1.3 and 4 when they came out, no other modifications. Tonight I pwned and flashed with 1.1.4 and no options selected when building the IPSW, worked fine. Then I created the 5A240D IPSW, also with no options checked, but got the pink screen of death when I flashed it. Restored to stock 1.1.4, then created another 5A240D IPSW and checked the box for Activate this time. After flashing that one I don't get the pink screen, but I have no service. Just to rule out any kind of corruption, I trashed the first 5A240D IPSW and created another copy, without any options selected, flashed and got the pink screen again.

Seriously.. You guys need to stop with the " AT&T activation is special" crap. Its NOT. I've been over it a million times already. Activation is activation. You're either doing it through iTunes, iLiberty, pwnage or the crap ziphone. Its all the same shit. Their is NOTHING special if you have a legit account. It just means you can use iTunes to activate it. I've been with AT&T forever now. I did pwnage ACTIVATE AND unlocked it just for shits and giggles. As have others. No problems. At all. Ever. 5 bars and still going strong. I hate to break it to you guys that are having problems but the likely culprit is YOU.

AT&T activation is unique. It contains your own device ID and IMEI to generate a signature. It is what allows the iphone to connect to AT&T. The AT&T SIM in your iPhone requires special activation to get it going. this is why if you put your iphone AT&T SIM into another AT&T GSM mobile phone it will not connect. iPhone is special. In order to keep it locked down to A&T, Apple made it so that you must "activate" with the network in order to use it properly. If you just copy over someone elses activation records it wouldnt work properly, it is unique to the SIM and device. Also, it is why the iPhone does not accept other AT&T iPhone SIMs apart from the one that came inside your iPhone.

Once you have successfully signed up to a plan with AT&T, iPhone stores that data on the SIM. I think that your SIM is activating itself when you sync with iTunes, thats why it works for you. I know lots of people have asked me for help saying that their phone cannot connect to AT&T, I tell them to download a stock lockdownd and then sync with iTunes to get a proper activation. After they do this, iPhone works.

So, just like you cant enter someone elses NCK unlock code into your phone because your iphone is unique. In order to get the special AT&T service, iPhone must be activated with AT&T. FactoryActivation is not activating with AT&T.

Where do you download a stock lockdownd and what do you with it before syncing?

Actually, pwning my friend's iPhone, I found that I can't get a signal unless I check "Activate".

Course whether it messes it up or not...it's not my iPhone XD.
