Default [iTunes] Could Future updates prevent Option/Shift key to load different IPSW files ?

    - is the pwnage tool going to work with the latest version of itunes ?

    - what could it happen in the future, if apple decides to block the "option key+restore" feature in itunes ?

Blaco: If you check the sticky in this section you'll find a thread talking about the title format policy.

Please take some time to read it. Thanks.

What would their reasoning for not letting people do that?
I myself had to download a fireware version at school because i just couldnt update via itunes no matter how hard i tried. I think its an excellent feature
(Other then the fact it lets us load custom files )

ah... even if they did, how long do you think it would take these smart folks to get around that issue.

Worst case scenario, we have to downgrade to a lower iTunes version before restoring. If anything, they're not going to make it so simple. If they started checking the IPSW in iTunes too, and not just on the phone, then pwned is kinda screwed.

yeah, something I haven't been able to get around is how happy people are about the future.. The dev team seem confident, so I guess that's a good sign

I'm worried about apple putting ipsw integrity checks into iTunes. This could be done very easily. I guess hex editing might allow you to get away with bypassng this for a couple of iTunes versions, but look how fast DVD Jons activation crack was patched.

And sometimes its not as easy as using a low iTunes. Apple may make it so the certain version of the OS must be used with a certain iTunes version or higher. This also makes it difficult.

The dev team say there are a couple of ways apple can patch out pwnage, but devs have already got a way to use pwnage after those patches

I guess only time will tell

Well, I dont think they can force you to update iTunes!
If you're telling that a new system could force you to use a new version of iTunes, then if you stick with your current system/configuration you can still use an older version of iTunes.
Maybe Apple can patch ipsw files to check iTunes version, dunno if that's possible.. but if it is, that could be one thing to force you to update!

But, it's like you say.. I'm not worried about the future, I'm enjoying what we have today and today pwnage tool works 100%, that's the only thing that matter for now!

    Enjoy it!
