    Default Issues with unknown errors

Hello, relatively new to the iphone scene.

followed the instructions using winpwn to pawn the 2.0 image, loaded itunes after putting phone into DFU mode, but it gives me unknown errors 6 & 13

tried in all USB ports .. is this a issue with my USB ports or have i gone wrong somehwere?

    Thanks

If I remember rightly error 6 is related to the iphone not being in DFU mode. You may have been in recovery mode. Follow this Guide. If your not in DFU mode it wont work properly and you'll get errors.

    Thumbs up if this helps

I'm sure you can still get into DFU mode from recovery mode. I helped someone PWN their phone over the phone the other day using winpwn, they got error 6, so we just put the phone phone into DFU and it worked a treat.

yeah, i'm a muppet i never looked properly, just assumed it would be in DFU mode.

on the link you posted he notes: It may take a few attempts to get your iPhone into DFU mode. Generally, I hold down both buttons then release the Home button just before I think the Apple logo would appear. If you are still holding both buttons down and you see the Apple logo you are holding them down for too long!

Do i remove the USB, switch the phone off.. then hold the sleep and home button then release the sleep button just before the apple appears?

    then connect to itunes?

aha! ok got it. genuis mate, thanks for you help!

although, it's given error 1601 now lol, but i'm sure i'll get around it.

whilst i'm here, am i best sticking with 2.0 now, as the unlock will most likely happen for that firstly for 3g iphone? rather than going to the new firmware.

If you want an unlock in the future then i'd stay at 2.0 or even 2.0.1. Dont go to 2.0.2 just yet. Good luck, you'll get there.

    Okay, back again.

I've been at this all day, tried it on another computer (although both computers are quite old) but i keep getting these unknown errors and when i create a custom image I try to restore in itunes it freezes, sometimes it freezes at: "Preparing iPhone for restore..." and the rest is different number errors,, i've tried it in DFU and recovery mode..

I've tried a different USB wire that i use for my ipod, but same thing happens.

i've put a O2 pay as you go sim in, so i'm on the main screen but obviously youtube or nothing is activated..

is this a problem with the phone?

Try just clicking on restore and let itunes restore it to a stock firmware(From DFU). That will hopefully fix it, then you can try quickpwn. If restoring to a stock ispw doesn't work the only other thing i can recommend is to try a mac using pwnage tool.
