Default [IPSW] Adding Cydia packages without Cydia?

I need to create a ipsw with only openssh in it and running (no cydia) this is as my g/friend likes her iphone looking stock. Anyway...

Is this possible? I have created a ipsw with pwnage 2.0.1 and added the cydia packages openssl and openssh, however this dosnt allow me to ssh to it.

So, basically, what packages are required for openssh to work without installing Cydia?

Some people have said that Cydia is more than just and installer and also includes core files (like the old bsdsubsystem) but surley its possible to install the required packages directly into the ipsw from pwnage without cydia?

Thanks in advance for you help!

    hey,

I see poof is in the sources already, try that. Install Cydia, OpenSSH and Poof and the hide Poof and Cydia away .. maybe a way to deal with that ?

This would be ok I guess, but I was thinking it would be nice to create an ISPW with only just what you want, for example just ssh. Ive tried many combinations of packaged but cannot get it to work correctly, its a shame I cannot find much documentation on the packages etc

You'll still need Cydia, as it contains the BSD Subsystem you would need to interact inside the iPhone's filesystem.

Jondalar is right with using poof to hide cydia afterwards.

My guess is you could do this in the following way:

    1. Browse to PwnageTool, make a duplicate of it. You never know.
    2. Right-click it, and select Show Package Contents
    3. Browse to where the Custom Firmwares are. Contents -> Resources -> Custom Packages
    4. Right-click CydiaInstaller, select Show Package Contents
    5. Files - Applications. Delete Cydia. (Or copy it somewhere else for your backup).
    6. (Optionally, you could duplicate the CydiaInstaller.Package, then modify Info.plist to name this hidden Cydia, or something like that).
    7. Run PwnageTool. Expert mode.
    8. In Cydia packages, find OpenSSH. (I think it's in the top source). Download it, then be sure to select it on the left most tab.

That should do it. In theory, you'd have the BSD Subsystem and SSH w/o Cydia installed. Not a very good solution, in my opinion, because you couldn't update anything via Cydia, including Cydia itself. So if it turns out Cydia is a culprit for slow iPhones, there'd be no fix for you. You'd need to piss of your girlfriend by re-restoring her phone, again. But it is a theoretical way to do this.

    A quicker, cleaner, better solution:
    1. Restore a generic custom firmware
    2. Move the Cydia icon to screen 3 or 4, along with Stocks and other things she doesn't need
    3. Tell your Girlfriend not to bother with page 3 or 4.

Cant you just install cydia on the phone, then install all the packages you want, and connect with ssh and delete cydia.app?

Maybe take a backup of it just in case?

Thats interesting, and sounds like what I want to do, so did you copy over files for openssh & it worked? If so which files? TIA!
