    OK VOLKS I HAVE UNLOCKED THE PHONE! And iTunes is asking me "An update to the carrier settings for your iPhone is available. Would you like to download it now?" Should i? Would i be able to unlock it after this update?



    No problem's, anything that helps my Phone:

    1. iPhone is not a 3G definately, and i do recall my cousin saying its a 2G, i have upgraded it to 2.1
    2. Yes, Private Sim Card is in the simtray
    3. Yes, Screen was black in DFU mode
    4. Phone was connected to direct Mac USB port
    5. Yes, iTunes is 8.0.1

    This is only editing the carrier settings - you can do it. It adds/edits stuff to the carrier bundle your iPhone is using according to the simcard you have. In most cases carriers uses this mechanism if they change settings for the access of their services (APN, homepage, ...)
