Default "The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occured (9)"

Can anyone help here? My iPhone is stuck in recovery mode.

I had an unlocked/jailbroken 1.1.1 which I tried to update to 3.0 using a custom firmware (which I got using Pwnage), but whenever I tried to restore it in iTunes 8.2 I get the error ""The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occured (9)"".

I tried restoring to Apple's own 3.0.1 through iTunes and I have the same error! I tried it on a PC and a Mac. I can't get out of recovery mode!

Have I just bricked my Phone? Help!

This is usually a USB related problem.

Try a different port or a different USB cable, or if you have recently upgraded (or downgraded) iTunes try restarting your machine.

Nope it's definitely not that. Cleaned and tried different USB ports, different computers etc. Same error.

Yup, I always have it in DFU mode for restoring.

I have just tried Winpwn as an alternative to iTunes but it doesn't detect the iPhone for some reason, even though it recognises when it is in DFU mode.

Jesus, this is looking more and more like a total brick...

Default dude did u get it fixed?...HELP!!!

did you get it fixed? what happened was I downloaded iwipe on cydia for some stupid f*#ckin reason and it got caught in a boot loop. I found if you reboot it and hold the home button it'll shut off and I got it to give me the 'plug into itunes' logo. I got into DFU/recovery mode via holding the home button while plugging into comp and the 10 second both button & release sleep button yada yada yada... couldn't restore factory couldnt restore custom firmware... tried to re-pre-jailbreak restore with custom same thing with regular apple factory settings. It downloaded the update cuz all it said was upgrade & restore or cancel and It looked like all was goin well but i got back this unknown error. I got (13), (9), & i think (5) i dont remember but nothings workin. WHO KNOW WHAT GOES ON!?
