I did not say to unlock the phone with pwnage.

I said simply pwn the phone so it accepts the 2.0 custom firmware.

But you can only pwn the phone with the original pwnagetool.

"pwning" the phone is the process by which the bootloader that controls the firmware accepted is altered so as to accept the custom firmware.

I am not suggesting restoring with a custom 1.1.4 firmware - I am only saying that if he presses the "ipwner" button that the phone will accept the custom 2.0 using only the "restore" button in iTunes without needing DFU.

If you were refering to BootNeuter at 2.0 not being able to unlock the phone then of course it can because it can do it to phones already on 2.0 so it doesn't matter that the baseband is from 2.0.
    iPhone US 8GB
    FW 1.0.2--> iUnlock--> iPhoneSIMfree--> 1.1.1 --> 1.1.2--> Soft upgrade 1.1.3 --> 1.1.4 using signal.app
    iPhone UK 16GB
    FW 1.1.3 OOB --> 1.1.4 --> iPlus 1.2 unlocked!

What's wrong with having the 2.0 baseband if he's going to update to 2.0 anyway? :p

dont let it update as its not neccessary.

Just select the 1.1.4 apple firmware you have and click on ipwner.

The phone will reboot and become pwned with the yellow pineapple logo.

Then it will go back to the home screen.

Now use pwnagetool2.0.1 to create a custom unlocked firmware (click no when its asks if your legit).

Then simply press "restore" in itunes and select the custom firmware and it will go back to 2.0 and unlock it.
    Success!

My iPhone finally works again! Thank you so very very much Speedy523, Spinstorm and iDarbert

Everything works as it should. Calls, Wi-Fi, Youtube etc, and the App store is just awesome.

Once again, thank you very much, hackintosh

Unhappy I have bricked my phone bigtime...

I am having the same issues and have tried everything listed in this thread and no success. I tried downgrading to 1.1.4 with kiphone but it stops at a certain point with the white text scroll and just hangs there forever. This all started when I updated to 2g 2.1 FW JB/unlocked successfully and even made a test call with it. Next thing I know , I am at the emergency screen and am unable to do anything with it now. I tried to qwkpwn but it always gets stuck at boot neuter screen.
I have been working on this for two days now and I am losing hair over it. Can someone please help a brother out !?!? It would be greatly appreciated !!

Yes I can. I have read several threads here about the itunes error 1011 which is what I am experiencing. Also, it seems the only fix to my issue is the "newwayaround method" posted in this thread here:

Unhappy Cant go DFU Mode - repetitive at Restore Mode

    Hey guys..

1st of all big thanks to all helps in here. Hackint0sh has been a great help for me since i had my iphone. Been refering to the websites whenever i have problems or solving others..yet now i have a problem which really challanges me and here i am seeking help...

The problem: A friend upgrading from 1.1.4 to 2.1 and while doing it his computer
lost connectivity via USB to the phone while pwning(Quickpwn) and now the phone cant be reset(hard/soft) and seems to loop at restoring. Ive been trying to put the phone into DFU mode but failed. Apparently on the steps to send the phone into DFU mode, when i have pressed both power and home button and count 10(or less ) it would kick back to restart the phone and into restore mode.
Ive been trying all kind of ways even downgrading to 1.1.4/1.1.3 it cant send the phone to DFU mode. Apparently i can restore the phone via iTunes. But i cant jailbreak/activate the phone as it wont kick into DFU Mode.

    Need help...thanks in advance

I have a problem with the iPhone. Using iTunes 8 I can get into the DFU mode, no restore mode or apple logo appear. When I'm trying to restore I get the error 6 or 1600 in iTunes.
I cannot get into recovery mode
In DFU mode I always get the error 6,21 or 160x

The iPhone is flickering at boot, it seems as if it is trying to reboot the whole time. white background---> black ---> white background (all in less than one second and going on until battery is low).
    Can't restore!
    DFU is working, though.

It is just rebooting like this:

Help is appreciated very much. THANKS

    Hi corv
I had a similar situation with my iPhone2G whilst making the same upgrade. I had to disconect from USB, reconnect so that iTunes presented the iPhone page, and hit restore to restore to factory settings. After this I pwned the phone to 2.1 from scratch using a tutorial, and it worked fine.
    Hope this helps.
    Benn.
