iPhone 3GS 3.1.3 unlock&jailbreak?
I brought back an iPhone 3GS to Germany after my vacation in the US. While there, I used the AT&T contract and didn't think about the consequences when I updated to 3.1.3. Now back in Germany, I did some research and it seems there is no way to get the phone working with my German provider?! And no, I did not save that cydia file, since I never unlocked it before.
Also, what's the deal with tethered and untethered jailbreak? Is it true, that after the unlock I'm not supposed to reboot the phone?
Thanks for the help!
Please search the forums. You've asked questions that have been answered many, many times. Here they are, in no particular order.
1) Yep, I hate to say this, if you're running a 3GS and you've upgraded to 3.1.3, you are locked to AT&T. There is no current way to unlock the baseband included with the 3.1.3 software update.
2) Without the Cydia file you can't downgrade to 3.1.2, so you're stuck at 3.1.3.
3) If you have one of the newer devices, made after week 40 of last year I believe, you have the newest bootloader which is not vulnerable to an exploit and must be connected to blackra1n or any other kickstart program to boot when it has been hard rebooted either from power loss or home/power being held for 10 seconds.
