Put your phone into DFU mode and either boot a SSH ramdisk (to repair the bootloop) or restore a custom IPSW

Custom 4.2.1 IPSW created with either pwnagetool or sn0wbreeze.

This could possibly be a hardware problem? Does iTunes see the phone at all even though it is on the apple logo?

Help us to help you. Don't just rudely (and uselessly) bump your own post every day.

Provide some new/useful information. Does the restore of the IPSW complete withhout error? then it goes into bootloop on subsequent boot?
Can you post the last iTunes restore log? Can you boot from a SSH ramdisk?
