im planning to get a pre-paid iphone 3g from aussie land fr abt 729 aussie dollars. i been told that it would take another 80 dollars and optus would unlock the iphone carrier-free for me.
should i go for official unlocking by paying 80 dollars or shud i wait for the PwnageTool to unlock n activate the iphone for me, as ultimately ill be using it in india.

As Geohot confirms: there is no known exploit for the iPhone 3G bootloader yet:

What means: no unlock, only jailbreak for 3G. The game begins anew, like last year.

i guess as impatient as i am i will pay 80 quids and get the official unlock & peace-of-mind.

btw, can any1 confirm if the official unlock done in australia would work if i get the iphone here in india?
