Default iphone 2g does not go into DFU Mode

OK, so I've been having this problem for like 2 months already, its my brothers phone its been sitting next to my computer as a paper weight... I cannot activate, some time ago I tried downgrading to 1.1.4, it used to be pwned on 1.1.4 then upgraded to 2.0 by mistake, before pwnagetool 2.0 came out...

anyways, the phone DOES NOT GO INTO DFU MODE.
It's not that I don't know how to do it since I have done many other iphones.

I have tried the regular way of going into dfu mode, power/home for 10 seconds (screen goes off at 7 secs), release power, then count 10-14 secs.... that doesn't work.

have tried going into dfu mode using windows command-line tools... also ziphone*(&^(*&^.... anyways, nothing...

Something weird, when the screen goes off at sec 7, it looks like its going off completely. When an iphone goes into dfu mode, and you want to "turn it on", either to restore or normal mode, you have to press the power button for like 5 secs for it to "restart"... This phone, you press the power button an the apple logo comes up instantly... like if it was completely turned off...

I cannot do anything if it does not go into dfu mode, I would like to pwn it, or activate it or something, I'm not a legitimate AT&T customer..

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks in advance!

Have you tried it with the usb cable plugged in or having it docked?

I had a stubborn one too and this was the only way it would work.

Try holding down the power and home buttons together, watch it reboot, apple/pineapple appears, KEEP BOTH BUTTONS DOWN, the screen goes dark again... it should go into DFU if you keep holding both down for long enough.

Ah ok, I was sure it was DFU, but hey it was a while ago.

So, what firmware was last restored to the phone? Have you tried restoring back again and using iLiberty? Besides pwning it, what firmware do you want on it, and what is the ultimate aim? Just unlocking it?

Tried it as well, any software used to put the device on dfu mode, mac or windows just puts it on recovery mode.

Ultimate aim is unlocking, any firmware but basically i just want it to work.

I have tried everything, right now is on 2.0.1, it used to be pwn'd 1.1.4 last time it worked, then it was upgraded to 2.0 by mistake and since then, DFU mode does not work.
