So does the maps.app(locate) finally work with jb 2.0.2?
You update in iTunes to 2.0.2.
Then use the 2.0.1 firmware with quickpwn to pwn your 2.0.2 phone.
It does work - I did it myself and the location feature works as well (although it always worked for me!)
iPhone US 8GB
FW 1.0.2--> iUnlock--> iPhoneSIMfree--> 1.1.1 --> 1.1.2--> Soft upgrade 1.1.3 --> 1.1.4 using signal.app
iPhone UK 16GB
FW 1.1.3 OOB --> 1.1.4 --> iPlus 1.2 unlocked!
<----If I helped you out, rep points are always nice (thanks for that idea!)
If maps.app locate is in a state of the button cursor just, spinning & spinning... there is ONLY 1 way to fix this.
On the iPhone go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Doing this will allow maps.app and all core location apps to work again and popup the dialog like they are supposed to. Strange bug but it sticks from each version, apple hasn't cleared it...
Simple enough fix though!!
take a 2.0.1 phone [2G]. UPDATE through itunes.
it will LOSE the jailbreak, but remain unlocked and activated.
run the quickpwn process (using the stock 2.0.1 FW)
your 2.0.2 phone will now be activated, unlocked, and jailbroken, with BOTH cydia and installer.
good morning guys and girls. I am bit hesitant on using a 2.0.1 version ipsw and its relevant files to jailbreak and activate the 2.0.2 firmware on a phone.
What does/should the pwnie change? from what I learned/know ...
the lockdownd+certs (activation)
the part in the bootrom/loader to execute uncertified code (the pwnage itself)
But is this it?
I see people writing about quickpwnie modding kernel-extensions, .. if this is the case, some one would need to look at the version of 2.0.2 (similar to cat /proc/version in linux, dunno the command for bsd though).
If it is simply this and there are not kexts involved it should all work. If there a differences, I would not upgrade since this might cause inconsistencies in your kernel which will eventually lead to crashed of the phone - not that we do not have enough hickups already without mixing versions.
Just my 2 cents,
I updated to 2.0.2 and sure enough I didn't lose unlock and activation. But it didn't help with my wireless issues, so I thought I'd do a restore to 2.0.2...
Now the phone only displays the cable to connect to itunes and the slide for emergency, and I don't have the option to restore in itunes. I just get a message saying the sim card is not supported.
I would like to know exactly whats extracted from the 2.0.1 ipsw before doing this, even dev team are telling you not to do it yet.
If you 2g is unlocked with boot neuter then pwnie will not touch it, the only time this becomes an issue is when the baseband is updated. All these minor releases from apple are just bug fixes and modem firmware
Thats why early adopters are home free!!
Seems wierd but last night I down a clean restore to offical 2.0.1 and used quickpwn to nail it, all the apps and everything work much faster than they did using a Winpwn image? Fluke?
Also, pwnie does not fix YouTube, can someone let me know how to fix it on 2.0.1 please?
