    Default help with unlock

I have a 3G on 05.13.04. My son may have unintentionally upgraded to 4.0.2 - he either cant remember, or is too scared to tell me!
I downgraded it to 3.1.2. And jailbroke it using pwnagetool. The pineapple comes up at startup. Things is I get no service or no wifi - so I cannot unlock it.
Am I stuffed? Is that what happens when you upgrade to 4.0.2? (I don't have an AT&T chip to check it out)

What tool did you use to unlock? It's possible to brick the baseband when using the wrong tools on the wrong version, but it's extremely unlikely. What versions of which software were used to jailbreak/unlock? I know you mentioned PwnageTool, which version? How are you unlocking? You mention you don't have an AT&T SIM so the phone will need to be hacktivated, remember that you have to unlock (with ultrasn0w) after jailbreak before it will work.

It was pwnagetool 4.1 and then redsnow. I could never get to the unlock stage as there was no service or wifi.
Is that what a bricked iphone looks like?

We don't support unofficial, unauthorised versions of pwnagetool here. The procedure you son followed is not something we that would be recommended here.

Sounds like you are on the right track however - I would try iOS 3.1.3 instead of 3.1.2. The baseband version you mentioned can be unlocked with the latest ultrasn0w.
