I friend just asked me the following:

"Can I delete the stock img2 files for applelogo.img2 (nomral start-up image) and recoverymode.img2 (recoverymode image) in a UnPwned 1.1.4, then paste the custom img2 files that I make? After that can I use that modified unpwnd 1.1.4 with iTunes and will it run or would I have an iBrick?"
I have no answer for him, I would have gone and told him not likely for iTunes to validate that firmware, but I don't know since you are simply swapping to files...

Yet, again, that's why I'm posting this question here, cause I don't know what to answer him.

Yeah what is the best way to go about actually implementing the file after you've generated it?

Since there isn't an ipsw builder for Windows or Linux yet, how can we overwrite the img2 files?

and how to we flash this over without having to restore the whole operating system? i cant use the thing where i just replace the image in the pwnagetool ipwner ramdisk, because it fails to make a custom ramdisk.

im replacing the logo.img2 in the iPwner folder inside the pwnagetool application and then "re-pwning" my iphone, but using the new image. its not working because the NOR flashing fails on the device when it gets to the image

EDIT: Just one thing, when I decrypt logo.img2 (got at pwnage1.0) i get a *.png but cant see the picture. Why?

yay its working. what i did was make the custom.ipsw with pwngetool, then rename to .zip and extract the ipsw. then go into the firmware folder, all_flash, all_flash.m68ap.production and then copy the applelogo.img2 file. then rename that to logo.img2 and put it in the iPwner folder inside pwnagetool. re-pwn and it will work!
