I have an Iphone 3g that was factory released with 2.1 ... I did a quick pwnage to jailbreak and activate so I could use it with my Gevey. Everything worked fine until I had the greatest idea of the year... Upgrading to 2.2 without upgrading the baseband using a Pwnage and custom file.

Created a Custom File and Updated as Instructed in the forum. Upgrade went fine and phone worked flawlessly after the update. This was until i got the "NO SIM" error during the night. After that got the infamous "Carrier Update" that won't update. And a Basically useless phone. Because at random time the phone goes "No SIM" without any foreseeable reason... and the only solution is taking the sim out, shutting down the phone, turning the phone on, inserting sim without the gevey, shutting down the phone again, inserting the sim and gevey and turning the phone on with the crossed fingers.

The questions are the following:
1- Do you think that if i do a downgrade to 2.1 everything will work fine again??
2- How the heck I do that??

Yeah you could try. It would be simple, just use a 2.1 IPSW package and restore thru iTunes. If you DIDN'T update the baseband I wouldn't think that you would be having those issues but who knows. They say that your not supposed to update if your using a sim hardware hack. Like I said if you used a custom IPSW and didn't update the baseband then try downgrading to 2.1 and see what happens. Can't hurt you at this point.

I have Downgraded Software using PWNAGE and ITUNES. But, Anyone Knows What is the baseband Version for 2.1 and 2.2

my phone says :
Version : 2.1 (5F136)
Carrier: Carrier 2.6
Modem Firmware: 02.11.07

I upgraded to 2.2. originally with Pwnage Custom Ipsw... But who knows ??

If your phone says 2.2 FW and your Modem FW says 02.11.07 then your good!

I'm pretty sure I have it in front of my eyes but I'm not able to see it.

well go to "Setting--->General--->About----->scroll down to nearly the end and you should see"Modem firmware--02.xx.xx

Hello. Can anyone tell me why my modem firmware did not downgrade when i downgraded from version 2.2 to version 2.1?? The modem firmware still says 02.28.00. I want to get it down to 02.11.07. Thanks.
