Both do install aswell a BSD Subsystem. The use of the carrier bundle relies on some functions in there for modifying the symlink.
Yes, I did install Cydia and BSD Subsystem, I also checked that the sym links were done correctly.

But I think my problem is not related to Pwn at all. I'm trying to use Stealthsim SE and when using a carrier that doesn't have a bundle installed I get a 'No SIM' error msg. I thought Pwn 2.0.2 could help me make Stealthsim SE work with my carrier (TIM Brazil) building the custom bundle, but it didn't work out.

I think I'd better try getting some help in a different thread, in the *SIM section.

Just a last question, I saw that the *.plist files that were sent to the iPhone were in plain XML/text. All the other bundles were in binary format, shouldn't we convert them to binary format also? (using plutil for instance)

If both of them work I think it's better stick with the XML in sake of clarity when debugging the contents of the file.

Ah, I see. Thats a different story, you'd bettercheck in the *sim section cause this is related to using the simadapter.
As for the plist files, that does not matter at all. Even if you edit them with apples Plist Editor they wont be binary on the Mac but will be used correct on the iPhone. BTW: this applies to all .plist files on the iPhone. They got edited since the very early days of the iPhone and still are.
The only thing about editing them on Windows is to transform them so that you can edit them as text file, then copy back. On a Mac you can use any plaintext editor for editing the files (besides apple Plist Editor). The only important thing is not to screw up the valid xml structure of the files. if you do, they are not used by the iPhone - at best.

    OK, thanks for the information.

I've just created a thread in the *SIM section since I could not find anything similar:

Hopefully somebody will shed some light.

You want to connect to the internet while not connected to wifi ... then that means you are going through Edge ... and that mean you must have the TMobile USA data plan ($19.99). If you just have the Tmobile USA tzones ($5.99), then you must install the Tzones hack. This has nothing to do with the custom carrier bundle. Please create a new post. We want to keep this existing thread nice & clean for "carrier bundle"

    Hey Volkspost,

Nice job, I've been modifying these things manually since the beginning and its a pain in the a**e when apple keep changing the files and their locations over the different iPhone versions.

The one question I have is does your script handle multiple MCC/MNC's for a carrier??

e.g. in the UK, Orange supports two, so can you put 23433, 23434 in the MCC/MCN field and your script will build two child entries in the plist for "SupportedSIMs" and also create two symlinks?

    Hi Dave!
My next modification will be to add two optional fields for additional MCC/MNCs. I am kind of busy this week with my real live job, but will try to solve this on weekend.

If you want a quick workaround you just add one child in the carrier.plist with the other MCC/MNC and save it. When it comes to symlinking you just type the command twice, once for the first MCC/MNC once for the second both pointing to the same carrier bundle.

I will be working and testing that on weekend, expect a one-click solution in about a week.

Already done because I wanted a custom IPSW with all the UK carriers built in from scratch. I just duplicated & edited the symlinking checks & creation lines in "symlinker.sh" and added the MCC/MNC entires in the plist but I thought I'd mention it as there's probably other carriers out there that use multiple MCC/MCN's too.

Thx a million Dave. Posts like yours help a lot improving things. I only have seen the need of two MCC/MNC every now and then, your post pointed me in the right direction :hack:
