    Default Firmware 2.2

    Hello,

    Thanks for your work.

It is written that your carrier bundle only works with firmware 2.2.1

I'm still in firmware 2.2 and I haven't planned to upgrade to 2.2.1 so far (it seems a minor update and it will take long to reinstall all other applications)

It may be a silly question, but is there a way to make it work on firmware 2.2 only ? (maybe by editing the info.plist that is generated by you script which contains reference to 2.2.1)

    Thanks,
    Romain

There are two Info.plist files, for the custom bundle for use with PwnageTool 2.2.5. Editing both has to be done. One is for Pwnages check routines, one in the bundle.

The easiest way would be to create the bundle for manual installation, install it as described on the iPhone, then open the bundle on the iPhone and edit the containing Info.plist file.
Just make sure to use a plain text editor like Textwrangler to not screw up the xml structure.

    hope that helps.

    Hi Volkspost,
Very nice to know you. I have a question about changing the custom carrier bundle.

Im using T-mobile USA, but in an extended area so it doesn't show T-mobile. It shows USA AE Airgradigm instead. I wanna create a custom carrier bundle using Carrier Bundle Generator iPhone FW 2.2.1 (im using FW 2.2.1, iphone 3G 16GB). When I call #3001#12345#* and find the MCC/MNC is 31064. However, there's NO folder in .../Carrier Bundles that is 31064. I still follow the step with Terminal and reboot iPhone. It still shows USA AE Airgradigm, nothing changes.
I think the problem here is I dont know the folder (or the bundle file) that my phone is using. It IS T-mobile SIM but not in a T-mobile covered area.

Could you help me solve this problem?

    THank you very much!

    Hi

Once you have used volks tool to create a custom bundle you need to un zip it & put it in /Systems/Library/Carrier Bundles/

You wouldn't see your MCC/MNC 31064 number until you have created a symlink & rebooted the phone.

You should have a txt file with your bundle that shows you the process & gives you the correct info to run on the terminal screen.

    (ln -s your_custom.bundle 31064)

Correct, check post #1 of this thread, then goto
    Carrier Bundle Generator iPhone FW 2.2.1 & PwnageTool 2.2.5 / Quickpwn 2.2.5
fill in the required fields then and hit the button "Download standard carrier bundle (zip-archive)". Download the archive and unzip it. You will find the bundle and a how-to install. You need OpenSSH installed on your iPhone and WinSCP/PuTTY (Windows) or Cyberduck/Terminal (Mac) to apply.
After you ran the terminal command speedy mentioned, a symlink 31064 is created, thats the one you are talking about, it looks like a "folder".
Rebbot the iPhone and you will be ok.

I did. The thing is, even after reboot, it doesnt show up. I can see the folder 31064 as well as the file _custom.bundle, however the carrier name remains the same. the _custom.bundle file is linked to 31064 "folder", but it doesnt mean the iphone will read that _custom file on startup ?

    Thanks !

It is the other way round: The iPhone looks for 31064, findes and opens it. Cause this is a symbolic link it uses the linked object -> the carrier bundle you created and copied to the iPhone.

So you first used the webservice to create the bundle and readme, then copied the bundle named like Airadigm_custom.bundle to the iPhone and linked it (as stated in the readme)?

If so I think I know what happened: On the website where you created the bundle, at the value for "* First character/digit of carrier logo name" did you insert U there??
Probably not. You have to cause this is the first character of the String your iPhone's carrier issues normally.
The entry in "* Logo text" can be T-Mobile of cause.

Try again with a new bundle, should work then.

I tried, but still doesnt work. Let me show you how I did.

-Create a bundle_custom file with these info:
    +Bundle Name: Torai
    +Carrier Name: USA AE Airadigm
+First Character: U (as u told me). I also tried with T but it doesnt work
    +Logo Text: Torai

    -Copy Torai_custom.bundle to /System/Library/Carrier Bundles.
    -Quit Cyberduck.
-Go to Terminal and type the commands.
    -Quit Terminal.
    -Turn off and on iPhone.

Result: Still showing USA AE Airadigm. Also, I see via Cyberduck the 31064 is a true folder, NOT a file looks like a folder. Dont know why :|
I also installed MakeItMine, but have unable it before installation. Dont know if it matters or not.
Hope that infos help you find out my problem here.
Thank you volkspost for your quick reply
