You can try to create a custom carrier bundle and replace your MCC/MNC with those of the original carrier. No guarantees that it would work though.
As I said I dont have an iPhone with a *sim. But I would guess this could be a way to check out. Create a custom bundle - the standard one - then apply via SFTP/SSH, restart the iPhone and check. If I had an iPhone 3G with *sim I would give it a shot.

Default Custom Carrier Bundle for Firmware 2.1

Can you tell me where I can get a custom carrier bundle for firmware 2.1? I was looking at the instructions on this page (http://www.volkspost.info/carrierbundle_pwn2/), and I noticed that I cannot use it on my older firmware. I'd rather not go through the hassle of upgrading if I can avoid it.

    Thanks!

Hi volkspost. I've been using your custom carrier advice/services for ages now...thanks.

I had a shiny new 3g for Christmas & have taken the opportunity to use the kind Dev Teams unlock solution (upated to fw 2.2)which has worked great for me. I am in the UK on vodafone.

I have used your custom carrier generator again & manually installed ok. Restarted the 3g and all works great. However, when I have turned the phone off overnight & turned on again in the morning I am back to the invalid sim scenario & can't get out of it. As a matter stepping back changes I had made, I removed the symlink etc that I had manually installed & the iPhone picked up my vodafone service straight away.

I re-did the custom carrier install successfully again and proved that re-boots or turning it off & staright on again work fine, it just seems to be when it has been turned off for any length of time that I lose the custom carrier & my unlock.

Currently I am just making sure I don't turn my iPhone off for any period but does this make any sense to you & would there be a fix?

    Many thanks

    Hi
I couldn't give you a fix 4 this but I can say I use the same UKvoda network as you do on my officially unlocked 3G & that has never happened before 2me with volksposts bundle

I guess the only difference between are two phones is yellowsnow so maybe the problem is their and will be fix in the next few beta releases.

Thanks n350z. Comments noted. In fact it has reminded me that I had this trouble before the 0.9.6 release. So I need to test it with this update. Fingers crossed.

Just to let you know that custom package created doesn't work with the new Pwnage Tool 2.2.5.
