Hi Volkspost,
I'm from the Cayman Islands, I have an iphone 3G, jailbroken on 2.1 fw. There are 2 Telecom services providers here Digicel and Cable & Wireless, their MNC/MCC #s are 33805/338050 and 346140/34606.
If I used your custom bundle to make a carrier bundle for either of the two Carriers, should it work...? Should my simcard from either of these companies, register and allow me to make/receive calls? Reason I asked, is because I tried it several times and I only got the "No Service" string. I even launched Fieldtest app and everything was listed as "unknown"...
Also, do I need a turbosim or any other sim solution after using your bundle? And lastly, what is "yourcompany," found in the bundle identifier "com.yourcompany.*Carrier*
Thanks in advance

First off, I'd like to thank you for what you've done for the community. That being said, I have an issue...
My friend has an iPhone 3G unlocked via TurboSIM. Naturally, we'd like to change the carrier logo, so I used your tool to create a custom bundle. I uploaded it to the device, and made the necessary symlinks, but it still shows up as 'unknown.bundle'. I'm not sure if the TurboSIM (I used the search function for the thread) has anything to do with it, but I do know this: When I made the proper Symlinks and rebooted, the iphone needed to be activated again. I didn't realize that this was going to be necessary, so I didn't have a backup of the lockdownd file at hand. I did, however, have the lockdownd file from my activated iPhone 3G (AT&T), so I copied that over and it seemed to work. We are now back at square one, the iPhone works fine, though it still identifies itself as 'unknown.bundle' (under /private/var/mobile/Library).
Carrier: T-Mobile (USA)
Here is a full readout of the PLMN page:
Location Area Code 11226
Mobile Country Code 310
Access Technology 3
Mobile Network Code 26
Routing Area Code 26
My MCC/MNC is 31026, right? I've also consulted a list of known MCC/MNC's and 31026 is on it. I also symlinked 31027 and 31016 as they were also listed for T-Mobile (USA).
Any ideas?

i am still investigating *sim solutions and carrier bundles. This seems not to go together. I have an official unlocked iPhone 3G using a non-Apple carrier. The bundles work flawless. I will try ro find out whats going on there.
I'll keep you posted, v.

@Volkspost: Thanks for such a prompt response! :-)
What I did was add this under the StatusBarImages key in the Unknown bundle
I then inserted the custom carrier images in the unknown bundle and viola. What's cool about it is that the only other network that comes to mind that doesn't begin with a 'T' is TIM (which is pretty far away from us).Code:<dict> <key>AllowPrefixMatching</key> <true/> <key>CarrierName</key> <string>T</string> <key>DefaultImage</key> <string>Default_CARRIER_T.png</string> <key>FullScreenOpaqueImage</key> <string>FSO_CARRIER_T.png</string> </dict>
I should note that this 'fix' may work for my friend, but that is only because he does not travel like, at all- And by travel I mean within roughly a 50 mile radius of his house.
Sure this always worked. What you could do is to use "T-M" in carrier name, just in case you visit Italy with TIM as a provider. Cause "AllowPrefixMatching" has to be set to "true" the iPhone looks for the string your carrier/simcard is issueing (the scrolling one mostly). It starts to comapre the string with the one found in "CarrierName", beginning with the very first character. Upper and lower case dont matter.
Just as a little background.
In case someone is using a *sim solution on an iPhone 3G "abuse" of the unknown carrier bundle might be the best solution if you want the custom logo. my guess would be that a "real" carrier bundle interferes somehow with the stuff the *sim programming has to do.

OhhhKK my bad o_O... Anyways I did some digging in my 3G - and I found this in my data-ark.plist "SimStatus: kCTSIMSupportSIMStatusOperatorLocked." do you understand any of this??? If so is there a way I can unlock the operator.
The data ark also show the following:
com.apple.mobile.lockdown_cache-ActivationState : Activated
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<string>Activated</string>
</plist>
Also show my IMSI & ICCI #s, but signal bars on my phone are extremely low...
Help need pls... thanks for everything... !dea
