yes, i have been getting binary.plist back from the converter, and have been changing the name to the file's name that was converted. i then replace the repsective plist files in the bundle, ssh it into the carrier bundles folder, and create the new symlink, all to no avail. any other suggestions are appreciated (i'm all out of ideas).

    thx

    hi
Apple left a rather small space for operator name, so if it’s above 7(?) characters, it will scroll, and display only first part

any one know how to change the operator name font size

    iphone 16gb 3g v2.1

    thanks

    - if you convert for example the XML.plist you got previously and you edited,, you will get in return a binary.plist; and that is this lattest one that you should copy back in your 3G iphone, after changing his name to the correct one ( for example : carrier.plist )

I hope that is clear enough!

PS : They are converting pretty well : I never had any problem converting with

The problem mostly pops up when you are on Windows and use a text editor. On a Mac you use Property List Editor (comes withg the developer tools).
Once the strict format for the xml file is maintained, it will work, the iPhone runs Mac OS X. Some text editors on windown open the plist files but alter the format or add special characters. The files are useless then. The webservice creates the same files Apple uses, so it works as long as you dont edit it and add information that screws up the file.

If you are on one of Apple partner carriers, the iPhone uses the png that comes with the carrier bundle installed. If you are using a non püartner carrier, the described scenario will happen. You can create a custom carrier bundle that includes a png for your carrier.
You then can use a different fontsize aswell or use a larger png file size to make the carrier name fit, check the webservice for more information.

You can use pledit, it's very good. http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/show...915#post353915

Installing Cydia programs on a phone that has no internet connection: read this.

Editing binary .plist, .strings, .nib and .xib files:
    * on your computer: Windows tool / conversion website.
    * on your iPhone: convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities) or edit them with iFile (Cydia links).

Right, this way you can minimize errors. On a Mac use Property List Editor, on Windows go for Jim's recommendation.

One last word here. If you use (on a Mac) a plain text editor like TextWrangler and dont screw up the XML structure in the file it will work as it always did. This is just for plist files of cause.

A Windows app like Notepad will alter the file content and make it unusable. There are lots of rules to stick to if you want to eddit the file contents here.

    happy hacking

is there ANY chance something i may have done wrong here causes my iphone to NOT go into deep sleep or osmething ? before if i went to sleep with a full battery (just charged) it wouldnt move much overnight.

But now it "drains" almost half of it in less than 8 hours of sleep!

I did change carrier (thats why i made a bundle, i was on Claro Argentina, now i went to Personal, claro is an official iphone 3g carrier, and i have an iphone 1st gen).
And also, i installed and uninstalled notifier and status notifier, and backgrounder, and updated categories, and many more things, and i am searching for the cause of my problem.

My turn for a question in here. I know it's a bit off topic... In the official carrier bundle for Claro Honduras there are two apns web.megatel.hn with user/pass webmegatel and vvm.claro.hn with user/pass vvmclarohn

What's the deal with that, and also after restoring my Claro locked phone from an officially unlocked 3G it keeps saying there is an update to my carrier bundle.

After clicking ok (on the carrier bundle update) now I have the ability to enter apn info which I didn't have before but of course all of the other settings are gone. What I need to do is have my phone use the regular settings again.

Edit: I just modified the unknown bundle with the settings from the claro bundle. Works for now.
