Default Can't Pwn phone with iTunes 8.0.1(11) what do I have to trash to install itunes 7?

After a week of crashing apps, I tried to re-pwn my phone using iTunes 8.0.1(11) to restore the pwnd firmware, but it refuses to restore

I was able to install current stock phone firmware so I have a phone.

I tried downgrading iTunes8 to 7 - I trashed the app and any related system files I could find, then installed iTunes 7.7 but iTunes said that I would need iTunes 8 to connect to the phone - it wouldn't even mount the phone.
I guess I didn't delete enough system files...

Can someone give me a list of the (Mac) system files that I have to delete to downgrade from iTunes 8 to 7.7 so that it will mount the iPhone.

    Any info appreciated

Are you running a new Macbook? A unibody model?
This one has a known issue with the USB, not recognizing the dfu mode of the Phone.
There is an article about it in the 3G Iphone section for Pwnage Tool.
Also with a potential work around, but not yet solved by the iphone dev team

    No - I have a G5 Dual 2.5 GHz
The crashing apps were starting to worry me so I erased the contents of the phone before trying to restore. I was using 8.0.1(11) which must have come from Software Update. I had no idea that it wouldn't restore the pwnd firmware.
I read that the version on the MacBooks is 8.0.1(12)

The latest version of iTunes - 8.0.2 was released today.
