Both PwangeTool and BootNeuter.app verify the hashes of the images for those lengths. BootNeuter.app will error out with "Not all the files could be found" if you try to use altered images within those lengths.

But in theory your copy of BootNeuter.app could be bogus and altered to accept bogus bootloaders, so you need to either trust your source for BootNeuter.app or hand-verify the hash of the BootNeuter.app/BootNeuter executable itself (00e871f316faa8518bea3e382c4cc0c4)

Then again you also have to trust that I am who I say I am and my hackint0sh password hasn't been compromised.
    lol ...paranoia ftw

Well if Pwnage tool verifies the hashes then it's ok (i wouldn't expect less from you guys)

Once again, great work on this tool, MuscleNerd, pumpkin, etc etc etc

EDIT: The above BootNeuter hash matches the one in the bootneuter binary in the torrent, (the already packed PwnageTool)

I trust that you say they are correct lol Thanks

Can you explain why there there are different length bootloaders around? were those other bootloaders perhaps off a beta version of pwnage and you shortened them before release?

Dev Team didn't distribute the bootloaders, so I dunno.

But considering that there is no official Apple file with 4.6BL anywhere to be found, probably some of the dumps you're seeing use zero-padding after the real bootloader, some of them use FF-padding, and some of them don't pad at all. It depends on whatever the person who dumped chose to do. And maybe something similar happened for the 3.9BL images (even though there is an official Apple file with that in it).

I can confirm the MD5 of BootNeuter from pirate bay is the same as your official MD5.

So it seems everything is ok - Thanks for clearing that up MuscleNerd!

BTW I have no idea what you mean by "padding" but as BN matches your MD5 and it checks the bootloaders everything is sorted!

Most common is the diference of 00 and FF padding.
i noted that some time ago.
same good data with diferent padding.
