Default Black screen too, sort of.

    Hi!

I just got home and wanted to see wether I had a call on my iPhone and pressed the 'wake up' button - and nothign happened. First I got somewhat nervous but then I just put the cable con and the screen came on completely normal, the phone was always running, it just didn't wake up when you press the button. And it stayed that way. everything looked normal, it just didn't react to the wake up button.
I then thought maybe it's better to do a complete restore (dfu mode) with the pwned ipsw file, but that didn't work (error 1600). I then just tried an original ipsw and that seems to work, the phone is restoring right now. There has to be some difference between the modified and the original file!

If you use your pwned ipsw file, do not put it in dfu mode just only in restore mode.

Yeah but if you restore from recovery mode, not everything get's overwritten. And as I now had this problem with my phone I thought it might be better to do it 'clean' all over again.
Now my phone is in recovery mode (with original 1.1.4 installed) but I can't resotre the custom file and the phone is rebooting every few seconds... I wonder what's wrong now...

You can't restore the modified ipsw because your phone isn't pwned anymore. Do that first.

Installing Cydia programs on a phone that has no internet connection: read this.

Editing binary .plist, .strings, .nib and .xib files:
    * on your computer: Windows tool / conversion website.
    * on your iPhone: convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities) or edit them with iFile (Cydia links).

As written by MuscleNerd (iPhone DevTeam) even the cpu bootloader is reversible.

When you click the "iPwner" button in PwnageTool, your main s5l8900 bootloader gets pwned. To undo this, use iTunes to restore to a Apple ipsw.

When you neuter using BootNeuter, your S-Gold radio bootloader gets "pwned". To undo this, run BootNeuter again and turn off all options (and pick 3.9 or 4.6 depending on your preference).

Two different CPUs, two different tools. But both the s5l8900 pwnage and S-Gold pwnage are 100% reversible.
When you did the restore with the original apple ipsw firmware you have overwritten the main s5l8900 bootloader. That's why you have to pwned again.

Of course! Excuse my stupidity, I keep forgetting that it's the loader of the baseband that gave us so much trouble, not the loader of the os

I had to restore the phone again as it kept rebooting, even in recovery mode or while being pwned. Now it seems to work again. I hope this time for more than 48h

This is a common problem with jailbreaked iPhones.

    It happens with Independence/iPlus/ZiPhone etc.

Just hold down home and sleep buttons until the apple logo appears then let go and it will reboot normally.

If it happens again then do it again.

Restoring won't fix it even if it doesn't happen for months it will eventually! Its just a bug you have to live with!
