    Default Baseband 04.05.04_G problems downgrading

Thanks for looking, I posted this in another thread:

Now I am using the latest PwnageTool for Mac and iTunes 8.1 to unlock my iPhone 2G using 04.05.04_G (apparently you can do this instead of installing iTunes 7.5 or using ZiPhone to downgrade baseband). I managed to change the firmware to 2.2 instead of 2.2.1 (but not to the custom PwnageTool version).

So, I run PwnageTool, basically do everything that is stated on iClarified (iClarified - iPhone - How to Unlock/Jailbreak Your 2.x.x 2G iPhone (Mac) [Updated 2.2.1]), but towards the last step, I constantly received error messsages when doing an option-restore to the custom 2.2 ipsw file. PLEASE, what am I doing wrong?

    Thanks again.

Usually accompanied by some number, like 1604. I really don't get it anymore.

Use simple restore mode instead of DFU when trying to restore to the custom firmware you made with PwnageTool 2.2.5

Should I do that with PwangeTool or iTunes? If you mean doing a simple restore when the iPhone 2G screen isn't actually black but shows the iTunes logo and USB cable, I've tried doing that to and it didn't work. I also had the screen black (using the Power+Hold technique and getting the screen to go black to enter DFU mode) and that didn't work either. Error messages with the numbers 5, 20, 1600, 1604, etc always show up.

I am on the 04.05.04_G baseband. This shouldn't matter though right? As PwanageTool does the work for you at this point?

Did you restore to stock apple firmware 2.2.1 first? If not I would do so. Then try a custom firmware made with PwnageTool again. Are you on a Mac or WindowsPC, if on mac which Systemversion Mac OS X?

    Default i have baseband

Hi all i am a noob at the moment. my iphone is 2G with firmware 2.2.1 and baseband 04.05.04 G. i manage to jailbreak my phone, but about unlocking its a yes and a no. I can put my t-mobile card but the signal is always weak(no signal to 2 bars with often no service). since i can get T-mobile signal, is that mean my phone unlocked? i think my problem is about the baseband. From what i read so far, a good hacked stable iphone 2g is running 04.04.05 G.

my question is, is the signal problem becuz of diff baseband? i mean it make sense since baseband has to do with signal etc.

and if its true, there what is my option here? do i have to downgrade to 1.1.4 then use ziphone to edit/downgrade the baseband? or is there a way to change the baseband without going back to 1.1.4(i dont really like this method cuz the important part is to downgrade baseband not downgrading the OS/FW).

    Thx

    Hello,
I am running into these same problems. My iphone is 2G with firmware 2.2.1 and baseband 04.05.04 G. When I plug it into iTunes it just shows me the screen with the usb cable saying connect to iTunes. I can't get it to come up as a known device. It used to before I used the iphone restore software that is supposed to come with the Quickpwn. Now when I open Quickpwn it says it can't complete because the firmware doesn't match anything. Please please help
