Back up from crashed iphone 3gs
My unlocked iphone 3GS switched off when fell down on the floor (I am told that I loose the unlocked software if I switch it off) when switched on I can see only itunes and USB cable screen. When I tried to connect to itunes its asking to restore the settings. If I do that I will loose all my photos on my iphone.! Unfortunately i do not have a back up. Also, I could not see BACK UP option in itunes under DEVICES.! Please advise.?

yes, you need to run it again to kick start it.
Why is your phone going dead ?
Do not turn soft reboot your phone.
Do not reset network settings.
Do not let you phone run out of battery.
If you need to reboot the phone, turn it off completely than turn it on again and use blackra1n to kick start the phone.

If you have a 3GS with the latest bootrom and are using the latest jailbreak, there is no alternate to a tethered boot. Unless a different exploit is found for the jailbreak payload during the boot process, you will need to have the phone near your computer for the power-on process.
There is someone who has created a portable kickstarting device that you plug into the iPhone that you can carry around that will send the proper signals to wake the phone up, I think they're running for around $35 right now.
Unfortunately, if you are jailbreaking one of the newest devices, this is something you will have to live with -- the only alternate at present is not to jailbreak. Sorry it's not the answer you were looking for.
The preceding forum post has been brought to you by the letter "N" and the number 42.

Thanks
Thanks for your help. Unfortunately I am not aware about the latest bootrom and latest jailbreak. First jailbreaking was done by a professional. It was fine for 4 months after jailbreaking. Started giving problems only after it switched off when fell on the floor. Since then I am following this post and using blackra1n available on the net for waking up the phone. :-(
