Default (Advice) Using unlocked 2G UK iPhone in Japan?

    Hi,

I've got an unlocked 2G iPhone that I've been using on Orange in the UK for over a year with no problems. I've recently moved to Japan and I can't get any service from Orange here (apparently you can't) so I got a prepaid SIM from Softbank but that SIM doesn't work in my iPhone either. Anyone have any ideas how I can get it working again?

Also anyone having problems with the battery? Mines drained within a day with absolutely no use and push/bluetooth/location off, not sure if the battery id on it's way out or maybe a Cydia app is running and draining it, is that possible?

    omissimo,

If I am not mistaken, the 2G offered by Softbank uses the 800mhz spectrum. iphone 2G doesn't support that.

    Best,

Yeah, unfortunately, you'll have to get an iPhone 3G or some Japanese Handset since they have a completely different Network standard.
