Default [Advice] iPhone repair in the UK? (no warranty)

    Hi everyone,

Would anyone be able to recommend a service within the UK for repairing a 2G iPhone? My Apple warranty is void, since I have unlocked the phone with Pwnage (2.0.2).

The problem with the phone appears to be a hardware issue (my screen will not display anything, although the phone itself appears to work, at least to some degree). There is a thread relating to the problem with my phone, here:

    Many, many thanks in advance!

Hi your warranty isn't void after pwnagetool just DFU restore to 2.1 and return it under warrenty.

They will not be able to tell after you DFU restore

thanks very much for this advice!

Will it be a problem that my iPhone was bought in the USA and yet I am in the UK? (I bought the phone before it was released in the UK ... )

Also, I no longer have the ATT sim that came with the phone - and currently there is no sim in the phone, as I have switched my Vodafone chip to my old Nokia just so that I can have a working phone ... !

    Thanks again very much

PS - I have just successfully restored (and erased) to 2.1, or so iTunes tells me, since my screen remains dead ...

I think it will be an issue if you have a US phone. They can tell by keying in the IMEI or serial number where it was bought (and by whom). There will be awkward questions about which network you are on as it should be AT & T, then the moment you give away the fact that it's been hacked in *any* way, they'll drop it like a hot potato.

If you can think up some good answers maybe you have a chance but they will automatically be suspicious.
