Hi & Thanks for any help you guys can offer. Here's exactly what happened & what I have done, sorry if long but want to get this resolved ASAP. First I used Umbrella to back up my SHSH I'm on 3.1.3 / 5.12.01. iTunes 9.0. MAC OSX 10.5.8 Once DEV Team released PAwnage 3.1.5 I downloaded this file... iPhone2,1_3.1.3_7E18_Restore.ipsw I ran Pawnage & followed the directions.

Once the new IPSW file was created I went to install it. When iTunes tried to install I would get an error saying it couldn't restore. I tried several times with same problem. After that my 3GS was stuck in recovery mode ( The USB connect icon) I did some googling & read that since I'm still on iTunes 9.0 I could use Spirit instead. So I tried that & I didn't realize that when the Spirit Quit button pops up not to push it until the phone is done restarting. So I saw the spirit splash screen then the phone froze. I tried to kick it back into recovery mode & retry but now nothing seems to work. I have tried to use iRecovery but I really really don't understand how to install & use it.

Things I have tried... Started with Pawnage 3.1.5. Moved to Spirit got frozen. have done 2 days of googling & read that Black Rain can maybe kick it out of recovery. Tried didn't work. Tried to use iRecovery can't figure it out. Now iPhone is just grey apple logo but if I hold down the power & home buttons iTunes launches & says it's in recovery mode.

Again sorry for the long post but wanted to get as many details as I could. I will be so very grateful for any help.

Was finally able to get my iPhone back to normal thanks to this nice helpful person. Great instructions & saved my butt.

Balisurfer, I am in the same boat you were, which set of instructions are you referring to? I checked the link but didn't see anything there. I am going crazy with this phone stuck in recovery mode. Help please!!!
