I have an older 3gs that didnt require the tether jailbreak. I just got my macbook and was having problems syncing so I decided to do a pwnage restore. I was 3.1.2 blackra1ned before. So I ran thru the motions, made a pwn ipsw, only selected cydia, openssh and put partition on 695. All went well. Reboot..... Now NO service! I have tried to restore back to normal 3.1.2 and when it verifies with apple, it gives me an error Device isnt elgible for the requested build. Any ideas? and now as I write this I think it might be my itunes is too new for the 3.1.2 but why the NO service after pwnage?

I uninstalled and moved back to 9.0 itunes and still cant get past the ineligible error? Everything runs but still no service!

OH BOY

as I surf around I see Apple stopped signing the 3.1.2... could that be why im getting the ineligible error?

I have my 3.1.2 SHSHs on file for 3.1 and 3.1.2 in cydia...
How do I retrieve those and how do I use them?

a simple walkthru or link would be greatly enough, I am vaguely familar with the iphone as I have jb it since 1.1.4

as for the NO service, i have read problems about that (Do a search).

as for restoring You can restore back to 3.0, or 3.1 since you have an older iphone. ( that't with me at least don't know why?

for me i had the same issue and i could only downgrade from 3.1.3 to 3.1 NOT to 3.1.2 even though i had 3.1.2 on file?
Then you can restore UP to 3.1.2.

to use your SHSH you have to change the "Host" file in etc folder and add a line to point iTunes to Cydia server Not Apple. Even with my SHSH on file, i could only restore down to CUSTOM firmware otherwise it would deny me

ok.... I can finally restore my iphone back to a 3.1.2 or even a 3.1 however when I run Blackra1n, I lose my app store and a few other glitches, and everytime I try Pwnage, it just hangs saying restoring but nothing happening?
All this follows my first pwnage attempt which ended in no service. I also tried redsnow 9.2 and it restored but with no cydia or jb!?

i also had that problem where itunes says restoring (forever) and nothing happen.


what i did, i restored to 3.1 then restored up to 3.1.2 (all with original Firmware) then i jailbroke 3.1.2 with PwnTool 3.1.5

i finally got it! took forever but ended up downgrading to 3.1 with SHSH on file with cydia. I added the line to my host to connect to cydia. Pwned a 3.12 and a 3.1.3. I prob took the long way but after i have a jb 3.1 i went to 3.1.2 pwn ispw then to the 3.1.3 ispw and all is great! I did have to use redsnow to get me thru certain issues along the way but with redsnow .94 and pwnage tool 3.1.5 to make the ispw I think i finally have it figured out, now to just get my ui and cydia apps back on.

Thank you for the help, I found most of my answers and other peoples problems here very helpful in diagnosing where I was going wrong.
