    Default 3GS Jailbreak Mac

    Hi,

I used to have a jailbroken 2G iPhone but have been away from the jailbreaking scene for a while. I now have a 3GS, which I have updated to 3.1.2 when it was released byApple. I believe that I should be OK to Jailbreak (iBoot-359.3) but I am not sure how.

My understanding is that I can use the Pwnage tool to have an unteathered jailbreak but I dont know if I can as Apple is no longer signing 3.1.2 firmware files. (I have tried using my ECID number in the Umbrella application, but it was unable to retrieve it for 3.1.2 but worked for 3.1.3).

I don't mind if I am jailbroken on 3.1.2 or 3.1.3, any advice would be greatly received. I am running MAC OSX.

    Thanks

    Jailbreak:
You can jailbreak 3GS 3.1.2 (with redsn0w, blackra1n or pwnagetool on mac).

    Restoring IPSW:
Once jailbroken, you can then restore pwned custom ipsw.

    Apple IPSW:
If you want the ability to stay jailbroken and have option of software unlock then you must only restore custom ipsw. This is staying aboard the pwnage and unlock trains.

If you ever want to remove jailbreak you need to restore with 3.1.3 assuming you backed up your 3.1.3 SHSH if not you can only restore to whatever apple is signing at that time.

I just did... or do you mean Cydia/non appstore apps?

Sorry I wasn't clear. I have successfully used Pwnage tool. I was now looking for good app recommendations from Cydia.

Dictionary iSpazio is the most useful app.

I also use PDANet to tether my iPhone to my Mac.
