    Default 3g 3.1.3 jb & 3gs...

    Hey,

Few questions I just need clearing up quickly...

Is it possible to JB 3.1.3 once its on 3.1.3 or is the only option at the moment to downgrade then Pwnage to 3.1.3? Thats on a 3G btw...

Also on my 3GS is there any way to get to 3.1.3 jailbroken with the 5.12.01? I'm factory unlocked so not worried about losing ultrasn0w etc...

    Cheers

Yes redsn0w 0.9.2 works - just point redsn0w at a 3.1.2 IPSW (even though you are jailbreaking 3.1.3, this works fine)

Yes - but there are no out of the box GUI tools to do this.

You either extract the baseband from the 3.1.3 IPSW with xpwn and load it manually with BBUpdaterExtreme (there is a thread about this, search for it)

Or you can make a custom IPSW with pwnagetool and then decrypt, mount and edit the restore ramdisk to enable baseband update.

on my 3GS, can someon tell me what I'm missing with this plan, bearing in mind I don't care about baseband update...

Upgrade to 3.1.3 through iTunes as normal, then redsn0w using 3.1.2 ipsw to give me jailbreak....

I know its been said this won;t work but why???

    Cheers

Because redsn0w on the 3GS relies on an iBoot exploit to jailbreak. This exploit was fixed in 3.1.3

On a 3G or 2G it uses the pwnagetool exploit to jailbreak. This exploit lies in hardware and can't be fixed by Apple.
