3.1.2 - can't gets in DFU mode
iphone 3GS - Firmware 3.1.2
Hi, help needed here as my phone can't gets in DFU mode anymore.
What i have done on my iphone 3GS:
1. I have jailed 3.1.2 with blackrain as I dont own a mac.
2. I found out that i can download custom .ipsw so i restored back to original 3.1.2 firmware
3. Now, to use the downloaded custom .ipsw, I have to enter DFU mode.
But now i cant enter DFU mode anymore .... any solution ?
Please email me at w3irdo6@yahoo.com

Because you have used blackra1n, the custom IPSW can be restored normally through iTunes. You should answer yes to the question has your phone been pwned before and you don't need DFU mode.

I have to install blackrain 1st then custom ipsw, else itune keep failing.
So to get back DFU mode, i have to answer "NO" when they asked me whether i have pwned before ?

Unless you have a broken home or sleep button you should always be able to get into DFU mode. The DFU mode is built into your iPhone's ROM.
I was explaining that you really don't need DFU mode for jailbreak on a 3GS. The jailbreak is done via recovery mode for the 3GS.
However I am a bit unsure what iPhone model you have because this thread is posted in the 2G forum and you are talking about a 3GS iPhone.
Because you have already used blackra1n once, you should answer yes to the question "has this iPhone been pwned before" when making a custom ipsw. Then you restore this via shift restore in iTunes. Your iPhone does not need to be in DFU mode.
