2G and 3G Firmware.
I apologize profusely if my question is basic but I just got an iPhone 1G (my brother gave it to me) and I am going to jailbreak it. I'm using the QuickPwn 1.1 tool and it offers two firmware versions:
2.1.0 (2G): iPhone1,1_2.1_5F136_Restore.ipsw
2.1.0 (3G): iPhone1,2_2.1_5F136_Restore.ipsw
Is there any reason not to go to the 3G firmware? I would think it would be the most capable but the fact both are offered has made me hesitate.
Again, I'm very sorry if this is posted somewhere else, I tried finding threads on it but couldn't. Thanks for reading.

On a 1st generation iPhone only 2.1.0 (2G): iPhone1,1_2.1_5F136_Restore.ipsw is working. Quickpwn just shows the versions that are installed on your PC/Mac.

iPhones are usually named by the cellular data service they have. Your phone is usually called either an iPhone 2G or iPhone EDGE, so whenever you see 2G it's referring to your phone model. For all intents and purposes, there was never an iPhone 1G. If you really want to, you can just say first generation iPhone. I guess it's kind of a stupid thing to get hung up on, but its better if people know what you're talking about
.
Whenever you see a choice between 2G and 3G, you should always choose 2G. Trying to use 3G software on a 2G phone is only going to cause problems.
