[2.0 to 1.1.4 DOWNGRADE] BigBoss steps not working
I'm on a O2 UK contract (not 'iPhone O2 contract' though) and was running 1.1.4 perfectly with a ZiPhone hacked iPhone 1st-gen.
After reading the reports of the 2.0 firmware being able to be activated through iTunes for O2 SIM users (therefore, not requiring a SIM unlock), I did a backup and proceeded to upgrade. All went smoothly until the phone rebooted in 2.0 and required activation. Instead of just 'logging in' to iTunes as many posts had reported, iTunes is telling me that my SIM card is unsupported. I have no idea why this is, as it is an O2 SIM card, so I shouldn't need unlocking to use it, right?
However, that isn't my question. After following the BigBoss steps here:
To try and downgrade, I get error 1604 when trying to restore back to 1.1.4. So, now I'm stuck in what looks like either the 2.0 activation screen, with no way to get out of it.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this downgrade might be failing, or even why my O2 SIM doesn't activate?
I'm in the same situation. (Vodafone NZ now carries the 3G, so I stupidly assumed the new firmware would allow Vodafone NZ SIMs without activation).
My iPhone is an import, and the purchasing location used ZiPhone on it, which I couldn't prevent, but it annoys me. I digress.
Basically, The steps you list fail for me too. There's a suggestion by some NZers to follow these steps: http://unlockmynziphone.googlepages.com/tutorials
yet it's not working for me..
Thread closed > redundant thread, there are 3 similar threads in the Offical Apple iPhone SDK section.
Please, use the search before posting, thanks.
