Ok so Im worried. I thought I understood and had done enough research and that is patently nonsense. I hadnt and I used Ziphone to unlock my iPhone after it crashed and froze after installing SwirlyMMS. (I had previously unlocked the phone using the manual method that was in use at the end of 2007)

What troubles me now is after reading all about 2.0 firmware is the amount of negative comments about Ziphone all over the place that I now realise I may not be able to chance upgrading to 2.0.

My iPhone is working fine apart from a few issues with iPhoto (renaming my phone to Mikeys iPhone & some of my camera roll not showing up in iPhoto when I plug it in)

My question is, should I relock the phone now using a DFU restore (before 2.0 is released official through iTunes) and then use Pwnage? Is there any point, have I buggered the iPhone up already?

I know Ive made a horrible mistake and I dont blame those of you raising your eyebrows at me now but I hope some of you will be kind enough to give me your advice.

Obviously Ive got to be quick before the 2.0 filters out to the UK.

Ive got a OTB 1.1.2 subsequently upgraded to 1.1.3 & 1.1.4

I had no problem using pwnage to re-flash my unit and to upgrade re-flash the baseband, unlock and activate... after having used anysim (original) and ziphone.

I suppose what Im worried about it because Ive used Ziphone does that preclude me , for iphone safety reasons, from using Pwnage?

Has Ziphone buggered my phone up to the point I cant DFU restore and then use Pwnage?

Did you read what I said. Let me try again, I DID IT WITHOUT A PROBLEM. I have used every free method to unlock and activate my phone at one time or another.

Note: You accepted the potential consequences when you unlocked.

and then wait till pwnage 2.0 comes out and then pwn to 2.0

Like many others, I too used ziphone. Once I saw the light I virginized my phone and used pwnage to jailbreak my phone. I've had no problems at all--and I sleep better at night too

Can you please elaborate on how you virginized your iPhone?

Having ziphone, would "Prepare For Upgrade" then restoring in iTunes allow me to unlock using pwnage or iLiberty?

Right now guys you have NOTHING to Unlock/activate iPhone 2 software - so PLEASE all sit back down and keep reading before typing anything - WAIT till Unlock Software actually becomes available.

If your iPhone is currently working LEAVE IT ALONE ! Go play with your other toy/s

Don't keep asking who will do what to what and when - The guys have made it extremely obvious they are NOT READY to release as yet.

I'm in the same boat. I posted a Preparing thread too, but no one replied. My guess is no one really knows what would be "best." I'm also guessing (based on the dev team video) that PwnageTool 2.0 detects your settings, and acts accordingly.

That's probably one reason it takes long to test the tool: too many users like myself have unlocked with many different tools, and they don't want you to have a brick just because you used AnySim 1 on 1.0.2 and want to upgrade to 2.0.

Anyway, I virginized and used PwnageTool. I think that's a safe bet. I imagine that 2.0 will be compatible with ZiPhone'd phones when it comes out, but I thought I might as well Pwn my phone now.
