Thanks for the reply chaps, whats this dfu all about, and if needed how do i get into it.

usinng this pwnage, will my BB and bootloader stay intact at previous versions, or will it update them to use new things in 1.1.4.

I read somewhere that it can be advantagous to have old BB etc. or dont this matter.

    thanks

This will clear your iPhone back to default settings which is what you want.

What I like to do instead of letting iTunes download the new firmware is get it downloaded in advance. To do this download it direct from apple using the link on the following page: -

Then select "restore" while holding either Ctrl or Option depending on if your using Windows or OS X. This will bring up a box that allows you to select the firmware from your local machine. Then simply wait for it to restore.

The process can take quite a while and at times it looks like its doing nothing but don't worry it will get there.

Then you should be ready to use the Pwnage Tool as you have a virgin iPhone with the latest firmware installed.
When you say restore, through itunes, do you mean use the original 1.0 firmware from apple, or use 1.14 firmware.

this will update my baseband i presume, which is not a problem, as i wasnt to use wifi triangulation...

    thanks

Just to confirm pwned worked very well for me, thanks to the dev team, the development of the iphone hack, as progressed very well, since thee early day's when i was using turbo sim.

I was on 3.9 baseband, V.10 F/W, thanks to chaosAngel & Law for the help, i restored the phone with 1.1.4 in DFU Mode, then PWNED it, using iclarified instructions, failed first time, with error 1600 in itunes during pwning. so went back and restored, and all went well, i think it was because i was in DFU mode when I was flashing pwned 1.1.4 back.

But all is good, thanks again....

    4.6 BB
    1.1.4 BL
