Hi just want to double check from what I read in the forum if i'm going to do the right way to upgrade and pwnage my phone.

I have a 1.1.2 OTB phone which I jailbreak& unclock with iclarified jailbreak and unlock tutorial using they're unlock tool.

Now here what i'm thinking of doing...
1. Use itool to restore my phone to 1.1.4 firmware ( I can't seem to find a program to revirginze my phone back to OTB 1.1.2)
2. Then use winpawn to unlock my 1.1.4 firmware

Any advice if this is correct is much appriciated

Just restore to 1.1.4 in iTunes and use winpwn then and you will be set.

After jailbreak/activate/unlock you will probably connect to iTunes to sync. iTunes will offer something like "use backup from iphone XYZ to restore data". Dont use this option, instead "setup as a new iphone".
Cause many things changed 1.1.2->1.1.4 (user mobile, ...) using backupped setting might lead to problem.

great! Thanks volkspost Just have another question,so you mean I can't restore like my contacts,phone numbers,email from backup using itunes? Is there anyway to restore it without using itunes then? Thanks again!

No, you can sync as usual all contacts, addresses, calendar events and so on with iTunes.

The dialog i am referring to shows up only the first time you connect to iTunes after your iphone is on 1.1.4.

Setup as a new iPhone lets you use the iphone as if it were new.

Things you do not get back then and have to enter new: Wi-Fi access to your router, custom settings in Stocks (your favourite stocks), notes, alarm setting in clock, cities in weather..... Its just like having a brand new iPhone.

So what you should defenitely do before upgrading is to sync with iTunes. Doing so will make sure that all music and videos are in iTunes, photos from camera roll are in you photo app (open the photo app to sync), and adresses and cal events are in Outlook (Windows) resp. iCal&Adressbook (Mac).

Do the upgrade then and sync via iTunes. Everything will be back.

mine is a 1.0.2 OTB and i upgraded to a pwn 1.1.4
when itunes asked me to restore the settings, i choses yes and it restored everything fine. I did lose all my music/video and photos from camera roll.

Was the iPhone unlocked with AnySIM 1.0.2 when you were at firmware 1.0.2?
Did you virginize then at 1.0.2 before going from 1.0.2 to 1.1.4?

Besides that, it's always a good idea to setup the iphone as a new one. You would get legacy settings on the iPhone. Remember at 1.1.3 we saw many changes in user model, file structure and so on. So when going from <=1.1.2 to 1.1.4 it's always a good idea to "setup as a new iPhone", then sync with iTunes and setup stuff like Wlan, Stocks, Weather etc new.

yea it was a unlocked with the alpha version of anysim i believe when it was at 1.0.2, then i virginize it then restore to 1.1.1 then to 1.1.4 then pwn.

Of cause you were loosing all music/videos/fotos from camera roll cause you restored to a new fw. If you did not sync the photos in camera roll with an pic app on your Mac/PC before, they are gone. alle the other stuff should be back after syncing with iTunes.

This restore from backup thing gives back settings for some apps and functions.
