I did not use Purplera1n for that reason either.

my iPhone is not on an official carrier, never was, and cannot therefore be activated, so Purple anything is not a complete solution.

otoh, Redsnow with Ultrasnow, does Hacktivate, as well as jailbreak and unlock.. That IS a complete solution..

Seems Geohot likes to do the hard work, then give it to Dev team to package up.. note Geo's blog says he
"About a year ago today, I found the at+stkprof exploit. Back then, I struggled for 3 days to write a payload. No luck, I just wasn't a good enough reverser. So I stashed the exploit away until December, when I gave it to dev for use in yellowsn0w."

Note that Dev did not come up with the Ultrasn0w unlock for 3G until AFTER Geohot gave them the exploit.. thats why it took 7 months to get a 3G unlock..

So I hope Dev picks up where Geohot left off, and gives us the best possible solution, such as hacktivation plus Purplesn0w, unless Geohot does it first..

either way, we iPhone users win. Im glad to see Geohot helping Dev Team, and vice versa

Geohot has quit the scene - don't expect to get an invite to this blog. Won't happen.

Purplera1n is long since dead. Use redsn0w instead
