3G S Factory unlocked jailbreak issue
Hello,
When i try to jailbreak my factory unlocked 3G S using redsn0w, i get to the part where you need to hold down your home button for 30 seconds, and about after 10 seconds it goes into the "Waiting for reboot" stage.
At the point the phone isnt even switched on.
Is it because redsn0w is trying to activate the phone when it already is activated because its factory unlocked?
Any way to get round this?
Thanks
Mitch

Why do you want to jailbreak a factory unlocked iPhone ? Just to use Cydia ???
I also have a factory unlocked - but I am not going to mess with it. I find the Apps Store to more than satisfy my need for apps...

Yes I did read the OP - which is why I was asking why you wanted to do that in the first place !
If you cant start the iPhone restore to factory settings. if its still goosed, send it back for a replacement unit.
Then stick to un-modified software ! Just an idea.

I have a 3gs factory unlocked phone and used redsn0w with no problems. Where in the procedure does it tell you to hold the home button for 30 seconds? When I do it it simply tells me to unplug the iphone from the computer, power it off, hold the home button and plug it back in. It connects in just a few seconds and jailbreaks. You have to follow the directions. iclarified.com has complete instructions.

Can someone tell me what is the advantage of jailbreaking a factory unlocked phone ? Just for the ability to install Cydia and some free apps ?
Seriously - last time I saw Cydia on a hacked 3G it was full of suspect software that semi runs or doesnt run etc properly.

You have APP's that only exist in Cydia, like Cycorder, sbsettings, yourtube, tethering, iBluetooth, etç, and you'll never see them in Apple store.
And I trust more the APP's from Cydia than the ones from the APP Store.
